Work experience is really important - so if you don't have any I would definately recommend that you undertake some voluntary work. With regards to any work experience that you do have -one word of caution - don't underplay it. I have heard candidates say things like - "I was just a delivery driver" - for example. Think about all the skills that this requires and market them - planning and organising, communication skills, customer services etc.
