This week one of our forum members asked the following question “Am I doomed to a career in science if I have chosen to do an MSc?” He had realised he wasn’t that interested in working in a lab and was starting to regret choosing this path.

In answering this question it occurred to me that you are only as doomed as you think you are.

People change careers continually throughout life so to think it is all over before you have started seems crazy.

I did a degree in Food Science but have never worked in the Food Industry except on the checkout at M&S. I have worked Human Resources in various industries including Investment Banking, pharmaceuticals and luxury clothing and now I work for a company helping graduates to get jobs. Go figure!
