Any Questions?

Any Questions?

This is one of the questions that we were asked at The National Graduate Recruitment Fair in Olympia, London this month. It is a question that has come up many times:

“At the end of the interview, what sorts of questions are most appropriate to ask?”

Our advice would be to prepare a list of questions that you would like to ask at interview and take these along on the day.. When asked if you have any questions, ask the interviewer if you can refer to the list you made earlier. Ask your top three questions. Make sure, however, that they have not already been answered, as this shows the interviewer that you haven’t been listening.

Good questions to ask are:

Is there anything else you would like to ask me?
Tell me what I should expect in a typical day?
How are the values of this organisation reflected in the culture?
What makes you proud to work for this company?
How will my performance be reviewed and how frequently?
Does the company promote a team environment, if so, how?
Are there ways in which the company works with the local community?
When should I expect to hear?
What are the next steps?

Don’t ask about pay, benefits, other perks – it is not appropriate at this stage.
