If someone objects to your ideas, this is a simple technique to deal with the objection.

Firstly, pace what has been said, “I understand how you feel, I thought that way too at first, but then I found XYZ”. This is a simple and elegant way of influencing someone to your way of thinking. An easy way to remember this technique is to remember Feel, Felt, Found.

Practice now by overturning the objection, “Spending three years at university is a waste of time ….”

This tip has been taken from the ‘Succeeding at Assessment Centre’ cards and comes from Clubs which is the ‘Making an Impact’ suit. The ‘Succeeding at Assessment Centre’ cards are based on the traditional set of cards with each suit covering the following:-

Clubs – Making presentations.

Diamonds – Other assessment activities, including role plays, psychometric tests, in-trays etc. Your preparation.
