Options include: assessment centres, group exercise, assessors, presentations, interview, application process or psychometric test. Surprisingly, with the exception of the assessment centre, most feared was the presentation. So, this week’s tip is about how to present at your best.

If you are asked to undertake a presentation it is likely that the assessor will be assessing how you present as well as what you present. Most candidates consider the content but are less likely to think about their presentation style.

So, make sure you introduce yourself, smile and build a rapport with your audience. Always tell them what you will be telling them in your presentation, then tell them and then summarise by telling them again.

It is really important that you stick to time too, as the assessor will stop you once your time is up - and if you are still to make your key points - you will not make the best impression.

Always practice your presentation at home in front of an audience - and ask them to give you constructive feedback - both on content and delivery. Get them to time you to make sure that you are on track. Most candidates speed up at the real thing - a tip, is to remember to take deep breaths to slow your self down.
